<br />Forest Management Applications
<br />For broadcast applications apply the recommended mm of Garlon 4 in a [oral spiny

<br />Use spiny volumes sufficient m provide thorough coverage of treated foliage. Usc

<br />Southern States Including Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia,
<br />Louisiana, Marylan4 Miasissippt, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Car-
<br />olina, Temessee, Texas, and VirgiNa: To control susceptible woody planet
<br />and broadleaf weeds, apply Garlon 4 at a rate of 4 m 8 gttaru per acre. To
<br />broaden the spectmm of woody planet and broadleaf weeds controlled, apply 2
<br />m 4 quarts per acre of Garlon 4 m tank mix combination with labeled rotes of
<br />Tordon 101 Mixmrc or Tordon K. Tordon 101 Mixture and Tordon K are not
<br />regisered for use in the smte of California and Florida. Whets gross control is
<br />also desncd, Garlon 4, alone or in combination with Tordon K or Tortlon 10]
<br />Mixture, may be tank mixed with labeled rates of other herbicide registered for
<br />grass control in forests. Use of tank mix products must be in acwrdance with the
<br />most restrictive of label limitations and precautions. No label application rates
<br />should be exceeded. Garlon 4 carrot be tank mired with any product containing
<br />a label prohibition against such mixing.
<br />In Westero, Northeasterq NorN Central, and Lake States (State Not Listed
<br />Above As Southern Smtes): To control susceptible woody plants and broadleaf
<br />weeds, apply Garlon 4 at a rate of 3 m 6 quarts per acre. To broaden the spectmm
<br />of woody plants and broadleaf weeds controlled, apply 13 to 3.0 quarts per acre
<br />of Garlon 4 m rank mix combination with labeled rotes of Tordon 101 Mixture,
<br />Tordon K, or 2,4D low volatile ester. Tordon 101 Mixture and ToNon K arc not
<br />registered for ose in the antes ofCalifomie and Florida. Whets gross control is also
<br />desired, Garlon 4, alone or in rank mix combination with Tordon 101 Mbcturc
<br />or Tordon K, may be applied with labeled rates of other herbicides registered
<br />for grass control in forests. Whrn applying tank mixes, follow applicable use
<br />d'trections and precautions on each product label.
<br />Applications for Site Preparatlon in Southern Coasml Flatwoads: To control
<br />susceptible broadleaf weeds and woody species such as gallberry end wax-myrtle,
<br />and (or partial control of saw-paknetto, appply 2 m 4 quarts per acre of Garlon 4.
<br />7o broaden dte spectrum of species controlled to include fetterbush, sraggerbush,
<br />titi, and grasses, apply 2 to 3 gtrarts per acre of Garlon 4 in tank mix combination
<br />with labeled rates of Arsenal Applicamr's Concentrate herbicide. Where control
<br />of gallberty, wax-myrtle, broadleaf weeds, and grasses is desired, 2 ro 3 q„sn~
<br />per acre of Garlon 4 may be applied in rank mix combination with labeled rates
<br />of Afford herbicide.
<br />These treatments may be broadcaz[ during site preparation offlat planted or bedded
<br />sines or, on bedded situ, applied in bands over the rap of beds. For best results,
<br />make applications in lair swnmu or fall. EfScacy may not be satisfactory when
<br />applications are made in early season prior m August. Note: Da not apply after
<br />plaatlog pines.
<br />Applications (or Cotdfer Release
<br />Nate: Applications for conifer release may cause temporary-damage and growth
<br />svppmssioa where concoct with conifers occur, however, injured conifers should
<br />mcovcr and grow nortnalty. Over-theaop spiny applications can kill pines.
<br />Directed Sprays
<br />To releaze conifers from compethtg hardwoods and brush such as red maple,
<br />sugar maple, stdped maple, sweetgum, red and white oaks, ash, hickory, alder,
<br />birch, aspen, pin cherry, Ceanothur spp., blackbeny, chinquapin, and poison oak,
<br />mix 4 m 20 quarts of Garlon 4 in enough water m make 100 gallons of spiny
<br />mixture. This spiny should be duccred onto foliage of competitive hardwoods
<br />using knapsack or backpack sprayers with flat fan nozzles or equivalent any time
<br />after the hardwoods and brush have reached full leaf size, but before autumn
<br />coloration. The majority of treated hardwoods and brash should be less than 6
<br />feet in height m ensure adequate spiny coverage. Care should be taken m direct
<br />spry solutions away from conifer foliage, particularly foliage of desirable pines.

<br />of pines. It is mcommended that sprays be applied in 30 or more gallons per
<br />acre of total volume. For bust results, make applications in late summer or fall.

<br />Broadcast Applications for Conifer Release in the Pacific Northwest and
<br />California
<br />On Dormant Conifers Before Bud Swell (Ezcladiog Pines): Te control or
<br />suppress deciduous hardwoods such as vine maple, bigleaf maple, alder, scotch
<br />broom, or willow before leafoat or evergreen hardwoods such az madronc,
<br />chinquapin, and Ceanorhus app., use Garlon 4 at 1 to 2 quarts per acre. Diluents
<br />used may be diesel or fuel oil. Or, water plus 1 ro 2 gallons per acre of diesel
<br />oil or a suitable surfactant or oil substitute at manufacturer's recommended rotes
<br />may be used.
<br />On Conifer Plantatlons (Excluding Pines) After Hardwoods Begin GrowN
<br />and Before Conifer Bud Break ("Early Fo6ar"Hardwood Stage): Use Garlon
