MIXING AND APPLICATION
BANVEL can be applied using water, oil in watt/ emulsions including invert
systems, or spnyable fluid fertilizer az a caniv. A COMPATIBII,ITY TEST
(see COMPATIBILTY TEST station) should be made prior to tank mixing.
To prepare oil in watt/ erwlsions, half-fill spray conk with water, then add .
appropriate mnount of emulsifier. With continuous agimdon, slowty add Me
herbicide and then the o0 (such-as diesel oil or fuel ei]) or a premix of oil plus
addidonal emulsifier to spray conk. Complete 511ing of spray tank with water.
Mainmin vigorous agimtion during spray operation to prevent oil and wamr from
forming separate Myers.
BANVEL may be apphed broadcast using either ground ar aerial application
equipment. When using ground equipment, apply 3 td 600 gallons of dilumd
spray pt/ treated acre. Volume of spray applied will depend on the height,
density, and type of weeds or brash being treated and on the type of equipment
being used. When using aerial equipment apply 2 to 40 gallons of dilumd spiny
per treated acre in a water-based cartiv.
BANVEL may be applied to individual clumps or small areas (SPOT TREAT-
MENT) of undesvable vegemtion using handgun or similar types of application
equipment Apply diluted sprays to allow complete wetting (up to con off) of
foliage and stems.
Herbicide adjuvants or othv apmy additives (emulsifiem, surfactants, wetting
agents, drift control agents, orpenetmnts) maybe used for wetting, penetration, or
drift control. Spiny additives must be agriculmra0y approved when used in pasmrz
applications. If spray additives are used, nod and follow a6 use recommendations
and precautions on product label.
WEEDS CONTROLLED
BANVEL, when applied et recommended rotes, will give cones] of many AN-
NUAL, BIENNIAL, and PERENNIAL broadleaf weeds, and many WOODY
brush and vine species commonly found in pasmrz, hay, rangeland, and general
farrmtead (non<ropland) areas. (Refer to GENERAL WEED LIST). Noted ('p.
CUTSURFACE TREE TREATMENTS
BANVEL may be app)ied as a cut surface treatment for control of unwanted trees
and przvention of sprouts of cut trees. A mix of 1 part BANVEL with 1 [0 3
parts water should be used in application. Use the lowv d0udon when treating
difficult-to<ontrol species. -
FIULL OR GIRDLE TREATMENTS: Make a continuous cut or a series of
overlapping cuts using an axe to girdle trze tmnk. Spray or paint cost surface with
the BANVELAvatcr miz.
STUMP TREATMENTS: Spray or paint freshly cut surface with the water mix.
DORMANT APPLICATIONS FOR CONTROL OF MUL7IFLORA ROSE
BANVEL can be applied when plants arc dormant as an undiluted SPOT-
CONCENTRATE dvectiy m [he soil or as a LO-0>L BASAL BARK treatment
using an oil-water emulsion solution.
SPOT-CONCENTRATE applications of BANVEL should be applied directly to
the soil as close as possible m the mot crown but within 6-8 inches of me crown.
On sloping terrain, application should be made to tite uphill side of the crown. Do
not tnakc application when snow or water prevents applying BANVEL directly
m the soil. The use rate of BANVEL is dependent on the canopy diamety of the
multiflom rose. Examples: Use BANVEL at 4., 1 or 24. fluid ounces of produc
respectively, for 5, IO or IS feu canopy diameters. Do not ezened a coral of
gtmris BANVEL per acre per yet/.
LO-OIL BASAL HARK applications of BANVEL should be applied to the basal
stern region from the ground line up m a height of I2 to 18 inches. Spray anti]
ronoff, with special emphasis on covering me root crown. For best rcsulu, make
