NORTH THOMPSON CREEK MINES
POND P-9 CERTIFICATION
Sediment P-9 is located in the central portion of the North
Thompson Creek No. 1 Mine Site as shown on drawing number D-~-16,
Final Reclamation, East End of Mine Site. From 1981 through
August 1991 sediment pond P-9 was constructed with a combination
primary and emergency spillway which consisted of an 18" diameter
corrugated metal pipe. Technical revision number 11, approved
August 23, 1991, provided for the installation of an open channel
emergency spillway to bring the pond into compliance with MLRD
Rule 4.05.6(31(dl & lel.
Pond_P-9_is_now designed-with-an open channel;-combination
primary and emergency spillway. The configuration of the
spillway t'or pond P-9 is shown on drawing D-4-6. Sizing calcula-
tions for pond P-9 and the spillway are presented in Appendix 4-
B, pages P-9-1 through P-9-4.
On September 19, 1991 an open channel spillway was con-
structed for pond P-9. A cap with s 3-inch diameter opening for
dewatering was subsequently installed over the inlet end of the
18-inch diameter CMP. To the best of my knowledge and belief the
spillway system for pond P-9 is constructed in accordance with
the approved plan and meets the requirements of the Regulations
of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division.
v~
;~:~ ~:~ ~/-zs-
~ ~ 19230 J~mes E.
