4.0 STJRFACE WATER
Trapper Mine monitored one stream site, eight active NPDES
discharge sites and one seep associated with an NPDES site during
1991. The stream site is Flume Gulch (S1). The NPDES sites were
001, 002, 003, 006, 008, 009, 010 and 011. The 10YR/24HR flume
(Coyote drainage) and Coyote Dam Seep were also monitored for
discharge. The Coyote Dam Seep is below NPDES site 005, where no
effluent discharge took place in 1991. Baseline stream site East
Pyeatt (S3) is also NPDES site 011. Most sites were visited weekly
throughout the year. Plots of flow versus time of the year are
presented for those sites monitored by continuous recorders
including sites NPDES 001, 002, 006 and Coyote Dam Seep. No plot
• is shown for Coyote (005) as there was no discharge. Maps No. 2-1
through 2-3 also show the location of these surface-water sites.
NPDES sites 003, 009, 011 and 013 had no discharge, therefore no
flow data is presented. NPDES sites 008 and 010 only discharged
once, in April, NPDES sites 004 and 007 have been dropped from the
monitoring program after regulatory approvals.
4.1 SORFACE-WATER FLOW
Flow measurements and samples were taken twice during 1991 for
Flume Gulch site S1. Data is tabulated in Appendix C.
Figure C-1 presents the flow versus time for NPDES site 001
(Johnson Gulch). Average flow during the period was 20.4 gpm with
a peak flow of 71.2 gpm occurring in the first part of June. A no-
flow period from mid-June to mid-July was observed. The flow was
4-1
