• trend. The upgradient mining in the QR seams has not affected the
pH in this area of the aquifer. The pH values from backfill well
GD3 are slightly below neutral but near the values in the native
aquifer at well GD2. Values from GE1 gradually declined for
several years and seem to have stabilized slightly above 7. The pH
of water from well GE2 has varied from slightly less than 7 to
approximately 9. The pH values for well GE3 have remained between
7.7 and 8.5 in 1991.
Twenty Mile Sandstone well GF1 generally contains water with
a pH near neutral, while the U aquifer well (GF2) and KLM aquifer
well (GF3) at this site contain water with a pH of approximately
8.5. A slightly higher pH (near 9) has been observed for the HI
• aquifer at well GF4. All three backfill wells, GF5, GF7 and GF11,
have field pH values near neutral. The field pH in well GF6 is
also near neutral.
Well GP1 has water with pH values above neutral, while well
GP2 water is generally near neutral. The field pH values for wells
GP3 and GP4 have shown little change for water collected from the
HI and KLM aquifers, respectively. Well GP3 has had pH values near
neutral, while values for well GP4 have been slightly less than 9.
Wells GP5 and GP6 are completed in the QR aquifer. The field
pH values from well GP5 are generally near a value of 8.6, while
the pH from well GP6 is above 7.
HI aquifer well GP7 has typically had water with field pH
values slightly above 7. Well GPB has water with a pH of near 8.
•
3-9
