No
discharges occurred at any of the other sites. Rainfall events occurring on the evenings of
August 6, September 9, and September 18, 2002, resulted in sufficient flow to Pond 007
to result in discharge. Rainfall recorded at the minesite was 0.6", 1.2", and 1.6"
respectively. The Mine is requesting the application of Alternate Limitations (for events
less than or equal to the 10 year, 24-hour precipitation event) for Total Iron and Total
Suspended Solids.
J.L. Torres Company monitors precipitation for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the
Trinidad Lake Project (approximately 10 miles east of the Mine Site). A copy of their
precipitation record for this period is attached as supporting evidence. Note that Trinidad
Lake did not record any precipitation on August 6, 2002 as this was a more localized
event. Note also, however, that the sample collected on August 6 did not have an
excedence of quality standards.
Should you have any questions or need additional information, please let contact me.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~
Ronald Thompson
Consultant for Picketwire Processing, LLC
Attachments
