South-Side Ditch Summary for 12PE Ponds '
100-Year 24-Hour Storm
Ditch Number Discharge Slope Shape Top Width Depth with
(cfs) (%) with freeboard freeboard (fl)
(ft)
12PE-1 6.4 2.8 V 5.4 1.1
RPE-2 6.7 24.5 Trapezoid 6.1 0.6
(riprap) D50=3.0"
29.1 1.0 V 9.8 2.0
12PE-3
Where,
/ RPE-1 is the approximate 1000-fr long reach that flows SE and collects runoff
from the south side of the refuse pile and from below the Clearwater Diversion to
No Name Draw. This ditch will move as the RPE is constructed, but has been
sized for the final configuration and an unvegetated surface.
/ 12PE-2 is the short reach where 1tPE-1 flows down a steep section from the upper
level to meet up with the toe ditch.
/ RPE-3 is the short reach that collects both the RPE south-side runoff with the
RPE toe runoff and carries the flow to the RPE Pond A inlet.
We have assumed a flow of 22.2 cfs from the existing toe ditch, which appears to be
conservative. If this flow is conservative, then so is the estimate for RPE-3.
Thank you for this opportunity to serve Mountain Coal. Should you have questions or wish
further discussion, please call.
Sincerely,
~~~~~ r
Mike Kolin
