§2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND ACTIVITIES -
MZNIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS.
2.05.6 Mitigation of Surface Coal Mining Operation impacts. (cont'd.)
(3) (b) (ii) (A & B) (Cont'd.)
(7) Methane monitoring holes will be drilled over the mine
workings. Run-off from the drill pads for monitoring holes
does not go through a treatment facility such as a sediment
pond. Run-off from the pads will be filtered through a
sediment fence. Design of sediment fences for three drill pad
configurations are presented in Volume 8, Drainage Design and
Location beginning on page SAE-31. The three typical drill
pads are designed on a 3H:1V slope, SH:1V slope and lOH:1V
slope. The typical sediment fence configuration, berms and
ditches for the various slopes and pad sizes are shown on Maps
8-8.
Methane monitoring hole BRL1-GMW-O1 (Map 9-1) will be
constructed where the ground surface is on an approximate
lOH:1V slope. The completion diagram for BRLl-GMW-O1 is shown
on page SAE-59.
(3) (b) (iii)
The entire operations of the Bowie No. 1 Mine and the Bowie
No. 1 West Mine are designed to protect surface and
groundwater from adverse effects. Both are monitored on the
disturbed site, as well as on the permit and adjacent areas.
As discussed in Sections 2.05.6(3)(a)(iii), stipulations
attached to the Operator's FCL C-37210 require that existing
on-tract and cross-tract flows be protected from the effects
of subsidence by limiting coal ex-traction in buffer zones
established by the BLM under Steven's Gulch and East Roatcap
Creek, by formulating a water replacement plan for the repair
of conveyance of storage systems and the replacement of any
water lost from an adjudicated water right, and by maintaining
flows for future use. This plan of collection, recording, and
reporting of ground and surface water quality and quantity
data is discussed as follows:

/~1R-10$ Revised 09/29/95
Revised 9/21/01
f~ppROVe~ 113c
G /~-9/o N
