. Access Road 1 will be backfilled and graded. The original road cut was below
sections of nearly vertical rock faces. Fill on this road will begin near the
center of the road and extend to a height of approximately 15' leaving some
vertical rock faces. Care will be taken when filling this area to use the best
soils for final cover. Excess material from this area will be used to construct a
new access road to the upper buildings. The new road will be west of
reclaimed Access Road 1. Additional material, if needed, will be hauled in
from the Unit Train Loadout Area.
Regrading of the lower area and the preparation plant will begin with clean-up
of refuse and coal stockpiles. All exposed coal residue or coal waste will be
placed in the CRDA-1. Concrete and other non-toxic material remaining after
demolition of the wash plant, shop and reclaim tunnel will be utilized to
construct the new access road and backfill a portion of Pond 8. Additional
soils will be graded over this fill to establish the final contours shown on
Exhibit 6C. Again, topsoil was not salvaged for this area, so some of the best
available soil in this area will be used as the final cover.
Reclamation of this area will include Haul Road 1. The 9.5' diameter conveyor
culvert under this area Leading under the highway was left in place. The
conveyor culvert was demolished and backiilled where it emerged from the
ground west of the I-70 frontage road. A minimum of 100-feet of culvert was
filled with soil. The 4-inch diameter mine dewatering pipe which ran through
the conveyor culvert to ouffall 001 was abandoned.
The drainage plan for the South Portal is shown on Exhibits 6C and 26. Run-
off calculations are presented in Appendix 14-6, pages 14-6-1 through 14-6-
18xxiii. The drainage ditches will be constructed except where they cross
pond 8 and pond 9. Pond 8 will receive interim run-off from ditch segments E,
F and G. Pond 9 will receive interim run-off from the RSRDA upper diversion
ditch, segments A, B and C, and a portion of the lower bench of the RSRDA.
The ditches will temporarily discharge into the two ponds to provide
sedimentation control until their removal is approved by the DMG. Once pond
removal is approved, the ditches will be constructed "through" the reclaimed
ponds so the final drainage configuration is complete. Ditch section H-H' will
be constructed after pond removal is approved.
Miscellaneous grading for the sfte will be at the A substation, Light Use Road
1, and the Water tank shown on Exhibit 6A, Tab Section 13. Grading of these
sites will involve minor cuts and fills to blend in with adjacent surface contours.
B-Substation was removed and the area graded during 2002.
• PR-3 14-8 (Rev. 1/07)
