Section E.3.6 Other Facilities
76. Persuant to the discussion presented in number 69., above, please commit
to burying the building foundations beneath at least 18 inches of plant growth
medium.
77. All affected land surface disturbances, including diversions, sediment
check dams and drainage crossings require backfilling, grading, topsoil
replacement and revegetation efforts. Failure to reclaim these features may
provide nick points for continued erosion and sedimentation into the
drainages. Natural siltation and revegetation of these disturbed areas will
promote weed invasion, an unacceptable consequence.
Section E.4 Previous Mining Disturbance Reclamation
Section E.4.2 Old Heap Leach
78. If the Old Heap will not be disturbed, the Division may require some
alteration of the species that have invaded the area. The original permit
approval required that the heap be re vegetated with crested wheatgrass, blue
grams, western wheatgrass annual rye and pinyon pine. Although natural
invasion has begun on the site, the species present are not suitable for
rangeland forage. The intent of revegetation efforts is to accelerate the
development of secondary succession in plant communities b.v reintroducing
species of the climax community, thereby attempting to eliminate an otherwise
natural transitory period dominated by weedy species.
STEVE: Our adequacy letter did not address the reclamation of the west pit.
How are we going to handle?
