FACILITY DESCRIPTION <br />This facility has been active in the past, and so is not considered a <br />new facility. The federal regulations which apply at this site are <br />under 40 CFR 434, the Coal Mining Point Category, Subpart D, Alkaline <br />Mine Drainage (see Section VI.A.2). <br />Wastewater is generated at the site from three sources: wastewater <br />from cleaning the coal tipple (est. maa. 300 gpd), spoil spring water <br />(est. max. 12,900 gpd) and surface runoff (est. max. 462,700 gpd), <br />The spoil spring is located at the south end of Pond E. No chemicals <br />are used for treatment. <br />B. Wastewater Treatment Description <br />The wastewater is collected and treated in pond E, which has a maximum <br />holding capacity of 713,600 gal. No other treatment is provided. <br />Discharge point 001 is the outfall from the pond to Fish Creek, as <br />shown in Figure 1, Part I of the permit. <br />Pursuant to the authority of Article 9, Title 25, Regulations for the <br />Certification of Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant <br />Operators, this facility ~32~],,require a certified operator. <br />May <br />V.
