-36a-

Vegetation Sun2y Supplanent (Shop Area)
On December 9, 1980 a survey of the supplemental mining area as shown
on EXhibit 10-1 was conducted by personnel from CPII.RB and Peabody Goal
Ccrtgaany. The supplemental area (29.6 acres) consisted of the following
vegetation types:
1. CYassland (1.8 acres) - The grassland type is fully described on
pages 29-30 on Tab 10.
2. Upland sage (7.0 acres) - The upland sage type is described on
pages 31-32 of Tab 10. The only difference between the sage-
brush curmunity in the supplemental area and that found on the
rest of the pernti.t area is that the supplemental area had minor
disturbance by mining activities in the late 1950's. The re-
sulting sagebrush carmiuLity is a product of natural succession,
• as no seeding program had been emg~loyed on this area.
3. Disturbed area (19.3 acres) - The disturbed area as shown on
Eadiibit 10-1 is a product of past m;n;nq and disturbances re-
lated to current activities around the shop facilities, in-
cluding the "bone yard" for spent equipment, and access roads.
4. Natural Revegetation (1.5 acres) - As shown on E~ibit 10-1,
this orncm~nity is found on old mine spoil east of the shop
area. Natural succession has resulted in a vegetation ~n-
munity dominated by rubber rabbitbrush (Q~xysothamnus nauseosus),
blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis), and annual grasses. No seeding
program has been implenented on this area. All revegetation was
a product of natural invasion.
•
