-33-
• Vegetation Type #3 - Juniper. The juniper oommuLity, characterized by Utah
juniper trees, comprises 1.BO acres on the study area. This type is actu-
ally an agricultural sub-type as the herbaceous understory is alfalfa
hay meadow. Juniper trees within this agricultural area were well scattered
and thus, do not appear to have any affect on the production and species
composition of the understory vegetation which is an alfalfa field. For
reasons discussed earlier, only the trees were sampled in this type. Tree
density was 45.7 trees/acre (a total of 59 trees occur within the type)
and basal area averaged 737.10 cinz. All trees were Utah juniper. This
juniper area represents scattered individual trees in an alfalfa field.
Wyoming DEQ Guidleine #2 (March, 1979) does not require quantitative
Dover or production estimates for agricultural areas or for tree strata,
thus reference areas for this site were not necessary.
•

APR g ~ggp'
