PM
Water Division 4, Water District 28, Gunnison County
Deaz Craig:
Enclosed is the application for approval of a substitute water supply plan pursuant to
C.R.S. § 37-90-137 for the above referenced facility. The project is located southeast of
Gunnison, along Tomichi Creek, which is tributary to the Gunnison River. Most of the values
used in this application were taken from the decree in Case No. 96CW267. Due to time
constraints and an adequate water supply, the bases for these values have not been analyzed.
Wetlands credit have not been claimed. Therefore, Varra Companies, Inc. reserves its right to
modify these values in future renewal applications.
The project's water use is evaporation from ground water exposed after December 31,
1980, dust control, and water lost with the product. The projected annual use during mining is
97.46 acre-feet. The water supply used for the operation derives from ownership in the Griffmg
No. 1 Ditch. An additional 54.46 acres of land irrigated by this ditch will be dried up.
Please let me know if there are any questions or comments.
Sincer~l~
Cheryl Signs, P.
