Some of our comments are based on
observations made at the Elam construction Bounds Pit which is
immediately to the north of this site. The following comments
summarize our findings.
' As is typically the case for this reach of Cho Colorado River and
its floodplain, the gravel on this site is high quality and in easy
transport distance to local markeLs. The only, and not uncommon,
difficulty associated with mining in this area is the shallow
ground-water table which approximates the seasonal level of the
Colorado River. Because of Lhis, mining may be difficult , more
expensive, or, occasionally, impcsuible during the spring and early
summer high water season. It may be advisable to remove production
' equipment from the site during these times. This use is compatible
with the eurrounding land uses. If the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology has no objection to permitting this operation,
then we have no geology-related objection to your approval of it.
' ise,'cely,e M. 9nering Geologist
1
