III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
STATE OF COLORADO
r 1
f.. J
Roy Romer, Governor
DEPARTMENT OFNATURALRESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Dlreetor
DATE: August 18, 1988
T0: Susan Mowry
FROM: Jim Pendleton ~ ~ ~-~~
RE: Semiannua ue Ribb ench F~ydrologic Monitoring
ermit C-81-047
I have reviewed the letter report which you forwarded to IRy attention. The
results suggest that the bench at the Blue Ribbon Mine experienced fairly high
soil moisture last spring. This correlates with our surface observations of
the past spring. While the past winter was not an abnormally high
precipitation season, the nature of this spring's late precipitation and
• accelerated spring melt did result in high soil moisture contents. The
moniroting shows it to have significantly exceeded the water table high stands
of the previous year. This might serve to explain the small surficial slump
which occurred above the intermediate terrace bench of the Blue Ribbon mine
bench. The monitoring also shows the high water table stand to have receded
fairly promptly.
In ~ opinion, the monitoring results are acceptable as submitted.

215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
