I <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />I <br />Rhyolite will be crushed and processed on site on a moveable <br />seven (7) acre plant site as shown on the Exhibit C mining plan. <br />This plant site will change locations as extraction progresses <br />and will sit on the mine floor depressed some 20 to 25 feet below <br />the existing grade. Guidelines for moving the plant are to have <br />a maximum haul distance of 600 feet from the end of the conveyor <br />line to the plant. Hauling from the quarry area to the plant <br />site will be done by using line conveyors. Processing will <br />consist of screening, crushing, and stockpiling materials. <br />Products will be crushed stone for decorative rock, riprap, <br />lightweight concrete aggregates, and base course material. <br />Hined material will be transported to the plant site by line <br />conveyors directly from the quarry face. This will minimize the <br />amount of truck traffic and thus considerably reduce air <br />pollution from both fugitive dust and diesel emissions. <br />In addition, Hallett may wish to operate other equipment at the <br />processing site to serve its customers. The equipment could <br />include a rod or ball mill to make angular fine aggregates, a <br />batch plant for ready mix concrete, and a batch plant for hot mix <br />asphalt. Each of these spreads could need approximately 4 acres. <br />The mining operation will be run in phases taking from 10 to 25 <br />years each to complete. A total of ten phases have been <br />identified and located on the Exhibit D Hining Plan Hap. The <br />projected mine life is dependent on market demand for this <br />material. <br />Areas of Disturbance <br />The method of mining to be used on this project is as follows: <br />1. All topsoil will be removed and stockpiled using scrapers <br />and front end loaders. All topsoil stockpiles will be <br />maintained separate and apart from overburden stockpiles. <br />The SCS indicates there is 0 to 6 inches of topsoil in this <br />general area. <br />2. All overburden will be removed and stockpiled using front <br />end loaders and scrapers. Overburden stockpiles will be <br />maintained separate and apart from topsoil stockpiles. Site <br />borings previously conducted by the operator indicate there <br />is about 6 feet average of overburden in the general area. <br />A maximum of 10 acres of area will be stripped at any one <br />time. <br />D -2 <br />3. The <br />plant equipment and line <br />conveyors will <br />be <br />installed to <br />' <br />the <br />starting point for mining <br />as each phase <br />is <br />mined. <br />D -2 <br />
