It does not appeaz that the excavation of aggregate materials at this
site will have a significant impact to resident and migrating wildlife. Additionally, there are no known
threatened or endangered wildlife species known to occupy or visit this area.
We would like to make the following recommendations for your consideration. First, topsoil should be
stockpiled and seeded with a temporary seed mix to prevent loss until ready for use in the reclamation
process. Control of noxious weeds during both the mining and reclamation phase should be actively pursued
to prevent infestation on site and in the surrounding area. The site should be reclaimed as native short grass
prairie and be graded to match the surrounding topography to the extent practical. Selection of an appropriate
seed mix can be accomplished in consultation with local NRCS personnel Finally, the site should be fenced
to restrict access by livestock until vegetative cover is achieved and bond is released.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment Please feel free to contact Warren Cummings at (719) 775-2025,
should you have any questions or require additional information.
Sincerely,
~~,~-vim ~ ~.ep[
Shaun C.
