be no long term highwalls exposed. The final slopes of the reclaimed areas will
be no steeper than 3H:1 V.
In order to further protect against problems with the location of the topsoil stockpiles
above the mining slope, Elam commits to providing a 20' buffer from the toe of the
topsoil stockpile to the top edge of the mining slope. Also, Elam commits to conducting
quarterly inspections of the highwall to look for any signs of instability. If signs are
detected, Elam will inform the Division and propose actions such as moving the topsoil
pile away from the area in question, immediate backfilling of the highwall to a milder
slope, and possible other actions.
Due to the natural cementing of the material and the past experience on site, I, Greg
Lewicki, P.E. believe that the slopes angles and heights proposed in this application will
meet slope safety criteria of 1.3 safety factor for permanent slopes, even though they
are not permanent. I, therefore, certify the design as presented.
:D~[3'4C rye"p S' \. ~~r~
~ , ~. f mm 9~ d~~~ ~ti""
~~
~~~~>~ ~Q
e® Bf+
ve°f\
