r • <br />Somerset Mining Company <br />SPCC Plan <br />Page 4 <br />1.3 Proper cleanup methods shall be employed for the particular <br />materials spilled. <br />1.4 The Environmental Coordinator will advise as to the necessary <br />requirements for proper disposal. <br />1.5 The Mine Superintendent shall notify the Mine Manager in the <br />event of a spill of any kind. The following information shall <br />be provided: 1) material spilled, 2) approximate volume of <br />spill, 3) approximate time of occurrence, 4) area affected <br />by the spill, and 5) names of personnel involved in cleaning <br />up hazardous materials. <br />1.6 The Environmental Coordinator will advise as to proper <br />notification and disposal requirements. <br />1.7 When the approximate volume and type of material spilled is <br />determined, the Environmental Coordinator will notify the <br />following: 1) Colorado State Department of Health, 2) U. S. <br />Environmental Protection Agency, 3) other appropriate <br />governmental agencies, and 4) downstream water users (if <br />necessary). <br />1.8 Adequate construction equipment and personnel are maintained <br />at the Somerset Mine to clean up any spill that may occur. <br />1.9 Additional equipment and/or personnel are available through <br />local construction contractors and other coal handling <br />facilities in the area should they be necessary. Refer to <br />Exhibit B. <br />2. Fuel Oil, Gasoline and Hydraulic Oil <br />2.1 Absorbent materials such as Oil-Dri, straw, sawdust, rags, or <br />earth shall be used to soak up any free oil. <br />2.2 All spilled fluid and fluid soaked materials shall be <br />collected and placed in barrels or other suitable containers <br />for proper disposal. <br />3. Transformer Oil <br />3.1 Absorbent materials such as Oil-Dri, straw, sawdust, rags, or <br />earth shall be used to soak up any free oil. <br />3.2 All spilled fluid and fluid soaked materials shall be <br />collected and placed in barrels or other suitable containers <br />of proper disposal. <br />3.3 Oil soaked earth shall be properly disposed of as a <br />contaminated material. <br />
