Manufactured mulch netting: <br /> Follow manufacturer's instructions; however, the following �; "' "- <br /> minimum specifications must be met: <br /> • Mulch netting will be pulled hand tight over straw. 7 <br /> Mulch netting will be held firmly in place. (U-shaped metal <br /> pins are commercially available from mulch net manufacturers <br /> for this purpose. They are usually made of 8 gauge wire and <br /> are six inches or longer, in length. ) Pin spacing will be <br /> not more than 10 linear feet. If the soil is sandy or other- <br /> wise exceptionally loose, use longer pins and wooden stakes, f1ei*w'; <br /> as needed, to firmly secure netting. <br /> b. Asphalt : <br /> Either of the following asphalt products may he blown on with <br /> the straw, or sprayed or sprinkled after the straw is spread. <br /> Liquid asphalt - rapid curing (R.C. 1,2 ,3) or medium curing <br /> (M.C. 2,3). Liquid asphalt is cut back with a kerosene-ID a <br /> product and can be applied in freezing weather. Normal rate <br /> of application is 0.10 gal/sq.yd. or approximately 500 gal/A. <br /> Emulsified asphalt - rapid setting (R.S. 1 ,2) or medium setting <br /> (MS. 2) or slow setting (S.S. 1). Emulsified asphalt contains <br /> approximately 50 percent water and should not be applied in ,gait# <br /> freezing weather. Normal rate of application. is 0.04 gal/sq.yd. j <br /> or approximately 200 gal/A. �•✓ <br /> • C . Mechanical method - special equipment is manufactured specifically <br /> for this purpose. However, if a "mulch crimper" is not available, <br /> a farm type disc plow can be used by setting the discs straight <br /> and apply adequate weight to crimp the straw "4" into the soil. <br /> C. Jute Netting - heavy woven jute mesh designed for mulching. Install in <br /> accordance with the manufacturers recommendations. <br /> D. Excelsior Mat - wood covered with plastic netting. Installation will be <br /> in accordance with manufacturers recommendations. <br /> E. Erosion Control Fabric - plastic knitted yarn interwoven with strips of <br /> paper. Install in accordance with manufacturers recommendations. <br /> I <br /> I'. Feedlot or Barnyard Manure <br /> 1. The manure must be of a type that has 60% or more, by weight , heavy <br /> chunks 5 inches or more in diameter. Granular or powdery manure will 1 <br /> not meet specifications. <br /> 2. The minimum rate of application shall be 20 tons per acre. Variation <br /> from this amount will require approval of the Area Conservationist . <br /> 3 .
