• R N ENVI ONME TAL CONCERNS
The impact of this operation should be minimal , and the existing regu-
lations and controls should insure against any excessive abuses to the
environment or public.
The addition of diesel fuel fumes from the motors of running equipment
and dust from the portion of the site being worked and the traffic on
the access roads will contribute to the air pollution. Good maintain-
ance of the equipment and gravelling and watering of the roads should
minimize these conditions.
Water pollution should be miminum as the water being pumped to lower
the groundwater table will be clear, and any water used in washing the t%
gravel will be directed to a settling basin where it will percolate
into the ground. Any direct discharge to the river will require a NPDES
Discharge Permit.
•
Noise pollution should be very little more than on the existing fanning
operation. A portion of the operation will be done below grade. Crush-
ing and screening will add noise, but this will be only a small part of
the operation. Any glare factors will be minimum due to the location
and contours of the site.
Hazard due to fire will be minimal due to the non-combustible material
and amount of free standing water. Fuel storage and the office building
will be located with adequate separation from each other and any off-site
improvements.
The impact on the traffic in the area should be minimal . County Road
No. 13 carries very little daily traffic. Access onto State Highway No.
•
C1
