Backfill materials shall be mixed adjacent to the <br />trench wherever possible, or in apre-approved remote mixing site. <br />5.5 Backfill Placement <br />All backfill materials shall meet project specifications, prior to placing into the trench. <br />Materials shall be placed such that no pockets of slurry are created, nor segregation of <br />backfill. Backfill may not be dropped into the trench. The Applicant shall backfill <br />continuously in the direction the excavation is proceeding. A lead-in trench shall be <br />constructed to initiate backfilling operations. The toe of the backfill must be a minimum <br />of 50 feet from the toe of the excavation at all times. Frozen materials shall not be <br />placed into the trench. A temporary lwo-foot thick cover of excess backfill material shall <br />be placed over the trench to prevent excessive drying and to allow for settlement. <br />5.6 Site cleanup <br />Excess slurry shall be disposed of properly on-site as directed by the Applicant, or at an <br />approved off-site disposal facility. The compacted clay trench cap shall not be <br />constructed for a minimum of seven days, or as directed by the Engineer. Final site <br />cleanup shall involve spreading the stockpiled topsoil. <br />
