' Nunn loam, 0 to l percent slopes INIAI.-This soil is on
stream terraces along most of the major drainageReys
in the county. The areas are irregular in shape and
range from about ]0 acres to 100 acres in size. Surface
runoff is slon-, and the hazard of Rater erosion is slight.
The hazard of soil blo«-ing is moderate in cultivated
' fields ~cithout. protective cover. This soil has a profile
similar to the one described es representative for the.
aeries. but it has a thicker surface lacer and subsoil
and is less susceptible to erosion. Included in mapping
' are smell areas of Satanta and Dacono soils end Loam}•
a]luciel land.
All of this soil is cultivated end irrigated. I[ is easy
to Rork and is cce11 suited to all adapted crops. The areas are irregular
in shape end range from 10 acres to RO acres in size.
Surface runoff is medium, and the hazard of erosion is
alight to moderate. In places concentrations of runoff
can cease ~ntllcing in unprotected fields. In some areas,
at ream ocerflo~c is a hazard to gro~cing crops because
of mashing and silt. deposition. Inclnded in mapping
arc small areas of Satanta and Dacono soils and ver}-
I small areas of He1dt soils.
' Nunn Series
The Nunn series consists of crell-drained, nearlc level
soils on terraces. These soils formed in loamy ullucial
material.
In a representative profile. the snrface layer is gray-
ish-bronn loam about 6 inches thick. It is noncalcareous.
The subsoil is dark grayish-bro~cn and grayish-brown
else about 17 inches thick. It is noncalcareous. The
' underlying material, belo~c a depth of 23 inches, is
light yellowish-brown and grayish-brown loam and silt
loam. It is highly calcareous and stratified.
Nunn soils absorb water nt a moderate rnte, and the
available water capacity is high. Permeability is slow
in Nunn soils that hnce n clay loam snrface lacer, and
it is moderately slow in those that hoes a loam snrface
layer. The entire soil is suitable for plant roots.

I-3
