Oept. of Natural Reseerces
In reference to your letter of June 24, 1982:
the necessary papers for financial warranty have
been prepared by John C. Stroh, II, and should be in the
mail at the end of this xeek,
I do hope you have the pictures of the pit as it
was earlier this year. My camera was faulty, and I was
unable to get the same pictures as I left with you. We have
had a great deal of rain, and the country is saturated -
very nice.
We are rsot disturbing the old pit at the south as
trees and grass have been established. In addition the ground
surrounding the southern portion of the old pit was used for
mixing asphalt; we are not disturbing this area as well. We
have been fortunate in acquiring some excellent topsoil from
another project. This soil which has been stockpiled at the
west should aid considerable in establishing nex growth and
cover when necessary, As the pit is depleted, reclasuation
in establishing cover on a 3s1 slope x111 begin,
Periodic xater in the pit will not interfere with
the gravel operation as it can be pumped into our nearby
ditch if necessary or sprinkled if needed. Hopefully this
water will be present as it will be a great help in establishing
new growth.
The irrigation ditch is protected by the buffer
zone to the east of the pit area, The trees now present in
this zone help screen the highway as well as protect the
ditch on the west,
