• cfe. For a four-month irrigation season, this would translate to
15,050 acre-feet on an absolute basis and 152, 331 acre-feet on a
conditional basis for a total of 167,371 acre-feet. The total
quantity of storage rights is 7$.49 acre-fee[ on a decreed absolute
basis and 54,200 acre-feet on a cooditional basis, for a total of
54,278.49 acre-feet. The grand total of these amounts is 221,649.49
acre-feet. The presentation of these quantities demonstrates that
CYCC holds sufficient eater rights to mitigate any potential problem
with respect to eater availability.
GBOOND WATER QOALITY PgOTECTION
Ground Water Occurrence and Aquifer Characteristics
• Ground eater within the proposed permit area is situated in
sandstone aquifers usually outcropping in aad recharged at narrw
bands along the top of dip slopes (see diacusaion of dip elopes
under Eule 2.04.6), and is under confining conditions as a result of
the presence of thick, impermeable shale Layers above. The recharge
area for the overburden aquifer, a zone of saturated siltatone above
the Wedge Seam, will be disturbed by mining activities. A detailed
diacusaion on ground eater occurrence, quality aad aquifer
characteristics is set forth in Section 2.04.7. The lithologic,
physical and chemical characteristics and stratigraphic i
relationships of the overburden aquifer are also discussed in detail
in Section 2.04.7. The overburden is not saturated at the site of
• the proposed surface operations at Mine No. 3.
2.05 - 152
