• BSSFONSS: <br />Po threatened or endangered species of plants or animals have <br />been observed or reported to reside in the proposed permit area. <br />Although bald eagles or peregrine falcons may pass over the area <br />during migration, suitable habitat for these species is not present <br />within the proposed permit boundaries. <br />The greater sandhill crane rarely wanders onto the proposed <br />permit area. No sandhill crane habitat is listed by the DSDI-FiiS- <br />OBS (1978) in the vicinity of Energy Mine No. 3. Furthermore, <br />meadow and aquatic habitats preferred by sandhill crane have not <br />been disturbed, ezcept for the construction of sediment control <br />• devices. These impoundments have enhanced the habitat available to <br />sandhill cranes. <br />The only habitat of unusually high value existing within the <br />proposed permit boundaries is the critical deer winter range located <br />in the northwest corner of the permit area. Na additional <br />disturbance of this area will occur in connection with the mining <br />activities proposed in this permit application.
