(See 1`orth Park LIRA/:•1FP overlays on file in the <br />Kreminling Resource Area Office.) <br />The strutting ground located approximately 1/4-mile south of [he <br />proposed lease area is included in the E'4RIA-funded sage grouse study <br />contracted to the Colorado Division of laildlife. The sage grouse study <br />was initiated as an attempt to assess the potential impacts of strip <br />mining on sage grouse. The sage grouse study will provide biological <br />data including population estimates, location and characteristics of <br />nests and nesting habitat, winter distribution of the grouse nesting <br />and strutting within the E:~fRIA study area, etc. This phase of the <br />study is the pre-coal development phase and data collected will be <br />• used to assess the impact of coal mining on sage grouse once mining <br />begins. The sage grouse study progress reports are on file in the <br />Rremmling Resource Area Office. <br />I. Cultural Features (Prehistoric and Historic) - 313 acres out of the <br />proposed 500-acre application area presently are inventoried for <br />cultural resources (prehistoric and historic remains). CR inventories <br />constitute a 62.67: coverage of lands within the lease application area <br />Intensity of existing inventories were to BI.M Class III (1007. areal,' <br />pedestrian survey) levels. (See ?tap 4). These inventories within <br />application area were conducted by: <br />1. CU/Boulder for M b T, Inc. (06G), 1977 - 3000' access road. <br />2. CU/Boulder for BLM Contract CX-1595-7-808, 1977-1979, 240 acres <br />and Site SJA163. <br />• 3.
