Box 326
Nucla, CO 81424
Dear Mr. Moore:
We have reviewed your letter of May 21, 1986 regarding San Miguel
County Road 639, (Deep Creek Road) on S.H. 145. It is our under-
standing you will be hauling lime from County Road 619 to the new
power plant at Nucla using multi unit trucks. Further, the San
Miguel Planning Commission has asked that the following questions
be addressed.
1. The effects upon the transportation system.
2. Providing adequate warning signs.
3. Providing adequate sight distance for the slog moving trucks.
Following is the Depaztment~s position to each of the questions.
1. We believe this operation will have a negligable affect
on the overall state highway transportation system from County
Road 639 to the power plant site.
2. Enclosed are copies of [he signs you will be responsible for
providing to our maintenance shop at Telluride. They include
two (2) "Truck Crossing" signs and one (1) "stop" sign.
Occe the signs are delivered to the maintenance strop at
Telluride, the Department will install the signs.
3. The sight distance toward Telluride is acceptable. The
sight distance towards Placerville is marginal, hu[ can be increased
by trimming some trees.
In addition to the concerns above, we will also require that the County
Road access be widened and radii be constructed. An Application for
Access must be filed with this office and a permit Lssued before the
widening can be done. Enclosed is an application for your convenier_ce.
r-.
~/
