Unfortunately, the r•ecor•d of ground observation in 005 Gulch, and the
precipitation events are not adequate to substantiate or clearly define •
such a relationship.
8. A tentative relationship has been established between ground stability and
percent of topographic slope, bedrock dip, and erosional patterns. The
data available indicate a critical topographic slope of about 16% and a
bedrock dip of about 90 (16%). Ground failure also takes place at lower
slope and dip levels, and it is thought that these are caused by an
increased amount of shale, and possibly water.
3.2 Recommendations
Recommendations for a report of this type prepared for design engineers
essentially encompass the body of the report itself.
1. The criteria, outlined in the report, that affect design should be
followed.
2. If conflicts develop in design between the reported criteria and feasible
design, further geologic review should be undertaken.
3. If unexpected conditions are encountered during construction of the
proposed sedimentation pond and the haul road, further geologic review
should be undertaken.
4. A comprehensive drainage plan should be part of the design for• Haul
Road G, particularly in the reach from Sta. 51+50 to Sta. 63+90.
•
6
