They <br />formed in gravelly and cobbly alluvium and elevation ranges from 6,000 to <br />B,SDD', The average annual prer.ipitation ranges from 14 to tg", thu uverape <br />annual air temperature is 45-50 degrees F., and the average frosC free season <br />is 100 to 130 days. <br />These soils vary considerably but gene+•ally, the llstic :'orriorther.ts surface <br />layers are gravelly or cobbly loam, or fine sandy loam. The substratums <br />are very gravelly or cobble outwash material. Generally, the Ustollic Hap- <br />largids surface layers arc gravelly or cobbly loam or fine sandy loam. <br />The subsoils are very cobbly or very gravelly loam, sandy clay loam, or <br />fine sandy loam.. The substratums are very gravelly or cobbly outwash material. <br />Permeability of these soils vary depending on the texture of the parent <br />material, Effective rooting depth is 40" or .more and available water cap- <br />acity is low. Surface runoff is rapid and the water erosion hazard is high. <br />This soil type Ss used primarily for rangeland or wildlife Habitat and for <br />construction gravel. <br />Native vegetation consists mainly of western wheatgrass, Indian ricegrass, <br />needleanCthread, blue grams, mutton grass, fendlers threeawn, ~unegrass, <br />big sagebrush, rabbitbrush, pinyon pine, Rocky Mountain yuniper, Ponderosa <br />Pine, Mountain mahogany, servictberry, snowberry and Gambel oak, Wildlife <br />found on this site include mule deer, cottontail rabbit, coyote, squirrels <br />and various bird species. <br />Steep slopes, gravel and cobble, are the primary limiting soil fear,ures <br />when planning for home or community Construction, These soil feoture9 <br />affect ey,Cavatlon for foundations, ut.tlity linen and roads.
