Although the site would be flooded in a major storm, the mining <br /> operation is not expected to have any adverse impacts on floodwater <br /> elevations <br /> Project Water Demands <br /> The project will have water demands associated with both the <br /> operational and reclamation aspects. The mining operation will use <br /> a mobile crusher and screen plant. This plant will follow the <br /> mining operation. The operator proposes to mainly crush materials <br /> in the fall and winter months, although we do expect the operation <br /> to be continuous on a year round basis. Project water requirements <br /> would include moisture losses in mined materials, dust control for <br /> haul roads, wash waters used in screening and evaporative losses <br /> associated with exposed water surfaces. It should be noted the <br /> only time the project water consumption has to be replaced is when <br /> there is a call placed on the river for Water District 6. <br /> Evaporative losses from exposed water on lakes will be minimized <br /> because of the dewatering that will be done during mining. There <br /> will be a minimal amount of evaporative loss from the dewatering <br /> trench around the interior of the mining area. This amount is <br /> expected to be less than one acre-foot per year and will be covered <br /> in a separate substitute water supply plan for a dewatering well <br /> permit. <br /> Wash Waters <br /> The mobile wash plant will recycle water through a series of <br /> sediment ponds located on the property. The plant itself will pump <br /> water at a rate ranging between 200 to 400 gpm. There will be <br /> approximately 0.06 acres (three cells at 20 feet by 40 feet) of <br /> exposed water in the three cells of the sediment pond. A normal <br /> net evaporative loss for the ponds will be 2 .5 feet per year which <br /> give a total consumption of 0. 14 acre-feet per year. <br /> Dust Control <br /> Dust control will require watering of all gravel haul roads on the <br /> property. Generally, the Air Quality Control Division requires the <br /> roads to be maintained to a specified moisture content specified in <br /> the permit. There will be approximately 1,200 feet of haul road <br /> that will be actively used. The road would be watered on the <br /> average three times per day with an application rate of <br /> approximately 1/8 inch per watering. If an average of one hundred <br /> days of watering is done per year, 0.70 acre feet of water would be <br /> required. <br /> G-3 <br />
