SECTION 7.0 Miscellaneous
7.1 Vegetation Monitoring on Trapper Reclaimed Lands (2004)
Routine vegetation monitoring on 599 acres of reclaimed Trapper rangelands in Ashmore, Derringer,
Flintlock and Hawken pits was accomplished during the 2004 field season. A total of 163 50-meter
transeds was monitored. The vegetation data collected on 471 of the acres (128 transects)
monitored during 2004 were used as part of a Phase II bond release application (SL-6) submitted
during 2004. Vegetation parameters sampled during 2004 inGuded ground cover, species
composition and woody stem density.
The first year of Phase III bond release sampling (SL-7) occurred on 186 acres of reclaimed
croplands in Ashmore, Browning and Colt pits, and on 594 acres of reclaimed rangelands in
Ashmore, Cok, Derringer and Enfield pits. IME (Kent Crofts) from Yampa, Colorado conducted the
Phase III sampling. A preliminary report of sample rosuHs was presented to CDMG for review in
January 2005.
Vegetation monitoring planned for 2005 will include routine sampling of new reclaimed areas and
selected older reGaimed areas, and the second year of sampling for an approximate 800 acre Phase
III bond release application (primarily for recaimed croplands and rangelands seeded between 1993
and 1995). Phase III vegetation monitoring will be conducted by a third party contractor (Kent Crotts,
IME).
7.2 Grazing of Reclaimed Lands
No cattle grazing occurred on Trapper recaimed lands during 2004, nor is grazing planned for 2005.
7.3 2005 Revegetation Seed Mixes
Section 3.6.3.5 of Trapper's Mining and ReGamation permit requires the Division be notified of the
seed mixtures proposed to be used each year. Tables 7-1 through 7-3 give the 2005 proposed
mixtures.
7.4 Trapper Mine Facilities
In 2004, no changes were made to Trapper Mine fatalities.
I•
