HIGHWAY EAF <br />Employees MUST firs[ erect suitable <br />barrier guards of "Men Working" signs before <br />engaging in such work as may endanger <br />traffic. These signs, safety cones or Lamps <br />MUST be placed so as [o be conspicuous to <br />approaching CrafEic. <br />When the nature of [he vc rk and traffic <br />require ic, a man Ss to be sea Cloned [o yarn <br />such traffic of passers-by while work is <br />going on. <br />Trucks should be parked on the right <br />side of [he higlivay and off the road as far <br />as possible. <br />Truck flares or ret lectors MUST be <br />-IB- <br />PROTECTING TRAFFIC <br />When working overhead, keep tools and <br />materials not Sn use in proper receptacles; <br />tools or ma cerials should NOT be thrown [o <br />or from the man en [he pole, but should be <br />raised or lowered by means of a handline, <br />using a proper receptacle, if practicable. <br />Also, too Ls and loose materials should SOT <br />be left ac the cep of poles, Ladders, or <br />ocher elevated srruc[u res, Workmen MUST <br />NOT stand whets they ara liable to be <br />struck by materials dropped by men working <br />overhead. <br />Pole holes, open manholes, excavations <br />and obstruction along [he public highway <br />and other frequented places MUST be pro[ec ced <br />' - <br />When [vo or more men are to work on <br />[he same pole, [he first man [o descend <br />[F,e pole shall be on the ground and away <br />from the pole before the next man descends. <br />Linemen vial NOT year climbers while <br />performing work fer which [hey are not <br />required, such as ground vorl:, driving <br />[rucks, working on ladders or setting <br />poles. <br />Linemen will ve.ar an elec [rically <br />approved hard hat at all times when <br />working nn ur near a pole. <br />-?1- <br />CLIMBING PROCEDURE <br />Each employee whose duties require <br />that he climb poles shall use approved <br />body bells, safety straps, gloves, climbers, <br />and climber pads and scraps.
