2.05.4 Reclamation Plan •
11. Page 20 of the original Seneca II Findings Document addressed the
following stipulation:
"AN ACCEPTABLE SHRUB DENSITY SUCCESS STANDARD MUST BE ESTABLISHED
AND INCORPORATED INTO THE APPLICATION BY DECEMBER 31, 1981."
Considering Appendix 13-2 of the renewal application references
an approved standard of 1000 stems per acre, one can assume this
shrub density standard has been established. However, this
standard has not been incorporated into the original permit
application. Peabody Coal should submit the appropriately
revised page with this shrub density standard.

RESPONSE:
On March 16, 1983, a shrub density standard of 1,000 stems/acre
(averaged over the reclaimed areas) was approved for reclaimed areas
at the Seneca II Mine (see March 16, 1983 letter from Sandra Emrich,
CMLR, to Tom Wainwright, PCC). This followed a 1982 field season
study to document existing shrub densities in reclaimed areas at the
Seneca II Mine. The data, accompanying report, and a request for the
1,000 stems/acre density standard were presented in a December 23,
1982 letter from Vern Pfannenstiel, PCC, to Sandra Emrich.
The attached revised pages (13-68 and 13-69a) to the Seneca II Mine
Permit reflect the approved shrub density success standard of 1,000
stems/acre.
2.05.4 Reclamation Plan
12. Page 20 of the original Seneca II Findings Document addressed the
following stipulation:
"A LIST OF PROPOSED SEEM MIXTURES MUST BE SUBMITTED ANNUALLY TO
THE DIVISION FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL. THE LIST SHOULD INCLUDE
PURE LIVE SEED (PLS) PER SQUARE FOOT, POUNDS PLS PER ACRE,
SPECIES ORIGIN, AND ACRE ESTIMATES TO BE SEEDED FOR EACH MIX."
Peabody Coal will need to submit this information on an annual
basis due to the variability of the various seed mixtures.

RESPONSE:
Approximately 140 acres of reclaimed areas will be seeded with Seed
Mix No. 1 this fall. The following species will be included:

36
Revised 8/27/86
