•
2.05.3(3) Culverts and Ditches
A review of road drainage specifications requires that the following
clarifications be made in the permit renewal application:
1. As SEDIMOT II has been used to estimate peak discharge for the
revisions to the original culvert system, the extensive
description of the SCS method can be deleted in the permit
renewal application. Table 12-3a should indicate by footnote
which peak discharge method was used for all culverts to avoid
confusion.
RESPONSE:
See Table 12-3a - Culvert Specifications.
2.05.3(3) Culverts and Ditches
2. Culvert 39a was replaced by 46b and Culvert 41b was replaced by
40b. These changes should be corrected on Table 12-3a and also
on the Table of Contents page for Tab 12.
RESPONSE:
See Table 12-3a - Culvert Specifications.
2.05.3(3) Culverts and Ditches
3. Calculation of H/D for Culvert 37b indicates a value of 1.02. As
this culvert may be submerged at flows greater than the 10-year,
24-hour storm, inlet protection as well as outlet protection
should be installed at this location.
RESPONSE:
Culvert 37b has been deleted. Road C3 is no longer required.
2.05.3(3) Culverts and Ditches
4. A review of Road C4 shows the roadside drainage ditch outlets
onto a hillslope where the road ends. The Division requests that
the operator define what specific erosion control method(s) will
be used at this location. This information must be submitted
before the request for alternate culvert spacing
[4.03.1(4)(e)(vi)] can be approved by the Division.
RESPONSE:
Road C4 is no longer required. Erosion is no longer a potential
problem on this road.
5
Revised 8/27/86
