\J
hlany of the processes discussed above have been pre$ented i.n some
detail in the hydrology literature. All have been expressed in terms of
parameters that are modified by mining activities. The solution of
equation [S] for baseline conditions, and for conditions resulting from
mining activities, will give the analyst an indication of the impact
of that activity or control on runoff.
If, in equation [8], it is assumed that the soil water-holding
capacity limits S, and Ia = 0.25, then
(P - Rc/4)z
Q p + Rc [g]
where Rc/4 < P and
Rc the soil water recharge requirement
L J
as previously described.
The basis for making pre- and post-trea`~rnent determinations lies
in the ability to extract from the soil moisture methodologies, the
change in antecedent soil moisture conditions. In this report, soil
moisture status is estimated by simulation analysis.
i•
