•
~(~';
Under Alternative II water entering the project a'e~ ~.~
would be disposed of as in Alternative I. „~a n t
return flows entering at point 8 would be i~~~ ~~~~~
point C. A suitable crossing would be provided at p
to direct runoff generated fron the project area nor~rl
along the railroad cut to a drop inlet located at point D.
The wa±er discharged from point D would thence be dispersed
along the perimeter of the orchard (area F). This large buffer
area would efficiently filter out suspended sediment and
absorb the runoff (provided of course, that the soil is not
completely saturated at the time of the storm).
The inlet at point D is a critical structure, and hence
would be designed to accomodate at least 30 cubic feet per second,
with appropriate safeguards ta4:en to prevent clogging by trash
and sediment.
As with Alternative I, areas E and F would be graded away
from Farmer's Ditch, and runoff diverted to area F.
_ (~) Railroad Rich! of tday
• Trackage areas outside the limits shown in Plate ~ will
be provided with cross drainage and vegetated buffer zones.
Storm runoff will be diverted into these buffer areas in order
to fitter out suspended sediment. Areas paralleling the new
county road right of o-ray will be revegetated, and adequately
drained. The extensive buffer areas wilt be used to control
storm runoff. Where possible, orchard or similar vegetation
will be reestablished on disturbed areas.
(4) Water Line
The proposed water line right of way (from the well field
in Stevens Gulch to Drchard Valley Mine will be
waterbarred throughout its length at approximately 50-foot
intervals and revegetated to prevent excessive erosion. ldhere
possible, naturally vegetated filter strips of an adequate width
to prevent the direct intr~'nction of sediment into drainage
channels will be maintained along the water line right of way.
.
,
~.
