Gravel historically has been removed from this
area, but the operation has not been reviewed and approved by the
County. The Dave McLain home is located approximately one half
mile from the pit entrance. An estimated 200 truckloads will be
removed from the pit yearly. Approximately 10,000 tons per year
will be removed from the pit, which will operate fewer than 180
days per year during the summer and fall seasons- Gunnison
County will purchase some of the gravel for its road
improvements; the pit will also be available for other retail
sales. No water, other than that to be consumed by those working
the pit, will be required. An irrigation ditch, owned by the
Rudibaughs and by Dave McLain, runs through the southeastern
portion of the property; the ditch terminates on Rudibaugh's
property.
PUBLIC HEARING:
The Planning Commission conducted a public hearing June 8,
1990.
