This <br />inidai production period would last approximately 4 years. As the mining advances in an easterly <br />direction, cover material will be trucked directly from the azea stripped to the reclaimed area, <br />graded to final contours and then re-seeded. Approximately, 6.2 acres of the Phase II pit will be <br />stripped of topsoil or cover material to create material to finish covering the Phase I disturbance. <br />Refer to Exhibit F, Reclamation plan for reclamation sequence. <br />The material removed from the pit will be hauled to a portable crushing and screening unit by the <br />liontend-loader as it is removed from the pit. This cntshing and screening plant will size the <br />gravel material and duect it to stockpiles for reloading and hauling off-site. The screening and <br />crushing plant will be powered by a portable dieseUelectric generating set with a 350 gallon fltel <br />tank, positioned neazby. The operator has no plans for an olIIce, but will have a truck fouler <br />converted to a material shed located nearby the crusher and materal removal operation. A <br />portable sanitation facility ("ports-pottP~ will be located near the supply trailer. A 1500 gallon <br />fuel storage tank for fueling equipment and the generator fuel storage tank will be located in <br />appropriate bermed and plastic lined containments. All ofthe above equipment is portable and <br />will be relocated (always kept on disturbed soar) as the mining face advances to reduce loader <br />cycle times and facilitate reclamation <br />Any hazardous materials/petroleum products stored in the storage trailer will be stored in a <br />containment cabinet designed for the purposed of providing primazy containment of spills. <br />A semi portable truck scale will be installed neaz the property entrance along the haulage road <br />neaz its intersection with the Redvale Road. Tlris scale will be mounted on three concrete piers <br />measuring I S"wide x 12'7tigh x 8'long. <br />Excavation of the gravel pit will create neazly vertical advancing and side slopes. The side slopes <br />will be reduced to a 4h:ly slope before topsoil is applied and graded to depth. The advancing face <br />of the pit will also be reduced to a 4h:ly slope as the pit is exhausted. Care will be taken to keep <br />all activities and disturbance within the projected pit disturbance boundaries. <br />A large puriivn of the projected disturbance are within azcas where the vegetation can be <br />chazacteri~ed as noxious weeds and cheat grass. Noxious weeds on the permit area will be <br />controlled per the Weed Control plan included in Exhibit J -Vegetation. <br />A small portion of the phase li. area is interspersed with wetland species. The applicant does not <br />believe this small azea is a jurisdictional wetland due to the influence of irriEation water. The area <br />in question dots not fall within the next 5 years of mining, is not transected by access roads and <br />will be tested to determine if it is a jurisdiction wetland prior to disturbance. However, mining <br />may proceed in the phase II area before this determination is made as long as there is no <br />disturbance to the wetland azea. <br />The gravel deposit lies directly on a sandstone shelf. This sandstone has been detemlined to bean <br />aquifer. Drilling indicates ground water may be present in the lower 10 feet of the gravel deposit. <br />Mitring experience will dictate to what depth the gravel deposit maybe removed without <br />disturbing this ground water. If ground water is encountered, pit floor projections will be revised <br />to maiatain a m;.,;mum of 2 feet of undisturbed material about the ground water. <br />The access road directs all truck traffic to all three phases of the gravel pit accesses the wunty <br />maintained Redvale Road approximately SSO' east of the nearest dwelling. The planning of this <br />road minimizes the effects of dust and noise generated by the operation on the rural lifestyle of the <br />local community. <br />D-2 <br />
