Schmieding, Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation
1313 Sherman, #723
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Jim:
The following comments are in response to your June 18th
letter concerning the East Rigden site.
1. Mining Plan
Topsoil on the site ranges from 0 to 12 inches.
In most areas topsoil ranges between 4 to 8 inches.
Topsoil will be removed from all areas to be mined.
2. Reclamation Plan
A. At your recommendation, we will add western
wheatgrass to our seed mix. The following mix should
be substituted for that listed on page E-3 of the
permit application:
Common Name PLS/Acre
Jose Tall Wheat Grass 10
Birdsfoot Treefoil 5
Western wheatgrass 5
Total PLS/Acre 20
B. There is enough overburden at the site to
backfill to contours specified on maps. However, it
is possible that some material used for backfill would
include construction rubble from other Flatiron jobs.
The lifts will be applied with dozers, loaders, compactors,
trucks, and/or any other heavy equipment required to place
and stabilize the soil.
3. water Resources
Fill material will be largely, if not entirely,
dirt and rocks from the site and will have no unfavorable
impact on water quality.
~ ~ VIII IIIIIIIIIIIII III
,iu~J 221919
