• Method of Exploration and Equipment to be Used - Seismic
Approximately 6,355 feet of seismic lines will be processed under this Notice of Intent.
This will involve the drilling of a maximum of 116 holes, 7 inch in diameter, to a maximum
depth of 5 feet (1 hole every 55 feet along lines). A series of geophone arrays will be
spaced along each seismic line. An explosive charge ranging from 1/5 to i/3 pound will be
detonated, individually, in each hole, with the reflection data recorded through the
geophone arrays by a portable exploration seismograph unit.
Drilling will be accomplished with a portable, beck-pack auger drill. Please see
accompanying photographs of the auger drill, geoph ones, and drill hole surface
disturbance.
Method of Exploration and Equipment to be Used - Drilling
Exploration will consist of rotary drilling. The equipment used will be one Mayhew 1500
rotary drill. It is anticipated that most of the locations can be drilled by air from an
air compressor mounted on the drill rig being used. However, if water is used, one
1,000-gallon truck will be parked in the field area. Other equipment in the field will
• include four-wheel drive pickups and one geophysical logging truck.
There will be a total of 2 monitor wells end 1 bore location to be explored at average
depths of 400 to 500 feet.. The diameter of each hole will be 5-1/8 inches. Drill pads
will average 50' x 50' in size, with the construction of 10' x 10' mud pits if drilling
fluid is required for hole stability.
In accordance with the State Engineers Office concerning monitor holes, a Notice of Intent
to Construct shall be submitted to their office at lees[ three days prior to construction.
Upon completion of the monitoring holes, a Well Completion Report will be filed with the
Division of Water Resources. An application to convert each monitor hole to a permitted
monitoring well will be filed with the State Engineers Office within the time frame
specified. See Figure 7 for generalized well completion.
L~ht-Use Roads. Drill Pads- Seed Mixtures
No roads will be constructed for this project. Existing roads will be used only if
climatic conditions are such that usage will not cause degradation, erosion, or increase
. sedimenta
d
ilt tion. No drainage
b structures will be installed on any existing road. No drill
pa
s w e constructed for the seismic portion of the project. Three drill pads and mud
pits will be constructed for the monitor wells and bore hole.
2
