I agree <br />that competence of the well casing to be installed is of primary importance, <br />therefore, alternate casing materia] (other than PVC) should be used. Colowyo <br />should obtain spec's for pipe that will allow some qualification of metals <br />that would be elevated due to contact of ground water with the casing. As we <br />discussed, a permanently installed pump, allowing proper well evacuation, <br />should minimize this problem. <br />Concerning the two collapsed wells, the Division requests that you supply <br />information as to the depth of the sheared zone in each well. Also, during <br />drilling for installation of the new well, this zone or zones should be <br />closely logged, with special note of problems such as toss of circulation or <br />other variations such as drilling or penetration rate. <br />I will be pleased to discussed any of these issues with you if you want <br />clarifications. <br /> <br />Candace M.
