<br /> <br />1 <br />4/83 <br />Graypoint series <br />The Graypoint series consists of deep, well drained soils on fans. <br />These soils formed in moderately fine alluvium. Slope is 0 to 3 percent. <br />Average annual precipitation is (~/6to 8 inches, and average annual air <br />temperature is 41 to 42 degrees F. <br />These soils are fine loamy over sandy or sandy-skeletal, mixed, frigid <br />Typic Haplargids. <br />Typical pedon of a Graypoint sandy loam, about 1/4 miles north and 1/2 <br />mile east of San Acacio. <br />D - g Cht <br />A--O to 3 inches; pale brown (lOYR 6/3) sandy loam, dark grayish brown <br />(lOYR 4/2) moist; weak very fine granular; soft, very friable; about 10 <br />percent cobbles on the surface; mildly alkaline; clear smooth boundary. <br />8 - ZO ~», <br />BA--3 to 8 inches; pale brown (lOYR 6/3) light sandy clay loam, dark. <br />brown (lOYR 4/3) moist; weak fine subangular blocky structure; slightly <br />hard, friable, slightly sticky, and slightly plastic; mildly alkaline; clear <br />smooth boundary. <br />ZD - 36 cn, <br />Btl-8 to 14 inches; yellowish brown (lOYR 6/4) sandy clay loam, dark <br />yellowish brown (lOYR 4/4) moist; moderate medium subangular blocky <br />structure; hard, firm, sticky, and plastic; nearly continuous clay films on <br />- -faces of peds; moderately alkaline; clear wavy boundary. <br />Bt2--14 to 19 inches; pale brown (1OYR 6/3) sandy clay loam, dark brown <br />(lOYR 4/3) moist; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; hard, firm, <br />sticky, and plastic; nearly continuous clay films on faces of peds; <br />moderately alkaline; abrupt smooth boundary. <br />y8 - i s-Z ~,., <br />r 2Ck--19 to 60 inches; white (lOYR 8/2) very gravelly sand, light <br />brownish gray (lOYR 6/2) moist; single grain, loose; 45 percent gravel and S <br />percent cobbles; calcareous. <br />
