1.0 INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Lafarge West, Inc. is seeking approval of a sand and gravel mining permit (USR-1455)
on the Duckworth property in Weld County, Colorado as shown on the attached Vicinity
Map. Gravel material will be moved by field conveyors and in one location the conveyor
must cross Idaho Creek. The planned crossing is designed to span the bed and bank of
Idaho Creek and avoid wetlands by placing the conveyor support stands on the ground
outside of both areas.
The conveyor crossing location (and conveyor stand locations) are shown to be within
the 100 year floodplain of Idaho Creek/Boulder Creek as shown on the applicable Flood
Insurance Rate Map (see attached FEMA FIRM).
Banks and Gesso, LLC has been retained by Lafarge West, Inc. to prepare and submit a
Flood Hazard Development Permit application for this conveyor crossing. This report is
part of the permit application and addresses the requirements of Sections 23-2-480 and
23-2-490 of the Weld County Code.
