Reference Area Monitoring. The sefe rence area may be periodically monitored using similar
methods, parameters and intensities.
Annual Reporting
An Annual Reclamation Report will be submitted by March 30 of the year following operational
reclamation or activity monitoring and will report those items required by 2.09.13(1).
additionally, the following information may be included:
1. Annual weed control activities and herbicide applications (when applicable)
2. Revegetation monitoring report (when applicable)
3. Wildlife monitoring report (when applicable)
Testino for Successful Reclamation
Cover. Revegetation success for cover in the dryland pasture reclaimed areas will be
evaluated by comparing the cover (cover standard) in similar pasture types adjacent to the
permit area. The lands, which are under Hayden Gulch Terminal, Inc. control, are located in
the EhSEk Sec 15 and the SEkNEk Sec 15 (both T6N R88W)(see Figure 20-1). Soils and landform
characteristics are similar for the comparison area and lands to be reclaimed. Historical
land use, vegetative composition, and management will be similar for both areas. Cover
sampling will be conducted in the comparison pasture area and reclaimed area using random
sampling techniques and methodologies described under monitoring. Sampling will be to
statistical adequacy. The vegetative cover in the dryland pasture reclaimed type will be
considered acceptable if it is not less than 90 percent of the cover standard with 90
percent statistical confidence.
Reclamation success for cover in the improved pasture (subirrigated/irrigated) type will b2
determined by comparing cover in adjacent similar pasture. A 200 feet wide strip either
side of the rail spur disturbance from Walker Ditch north to the Union Pacific Railroad
(identified as DSRGW on Figure 20-1) main line will define the comparison sampling area (see
Figure 20-1). Any low lying areas with standing water will be excluded. Osing a comparison
area close to the reclaimed site will ensure that soil textures, moisture regimes and
management aze similar for both areas, thus allowing a valid comparison. Random samples
will be distributed in the comparison sampling area and revegetated area to develop the
cover data sets. Sampling in both areas will be to statistical adequacy. The vegetative
cover in the improved pasture (subirrigated/irrigated) reclaimed type will be considered
acceptable if it is not less than 90 percent of the cover
TR-07 11 Revised 03/06
