<br />The following is the material you requested concerning the seven Gravel
<br />pits the county uses.
<br />Del Norte Pit -The soils at this site are Nori,r,•-1'~wiul complex, Dunul
<br />cobbly sandy loam and Derrick cobbly loam. Det=riled deseril;tions are
<br />attached. All of these soils have very litt,]c f;~~+,d top;;oi.l as can be
<br />noted by the sparse vegetation adjacent to th+~ r,it:;. This is also due
<br />to the very lore annual precitation in the area. T}u:: pit is surrounded
<br />by r•xnFeland, The native vegetation adjacent i... l.he pit consists of
<br />rabbitbrush, kochia, russian thistle, squirrel tail, sunflower, daisy,
<br />blue er~a:aa, sleepygrass, pureed, and prickly pear cactus, In the very
<br />bottom of the pit where moisture content is h.i'ir, :r.illow:; are present,
<br />Ar. fir :rs a reclamation Flan, when this grit i:; nc• lnnger• roved, I would
<br />recommend that side slopes of 3:l or flatter ba•lr•~~vidcd. I feel the
<br />chances of reseeding and (;ettinU a stand arf• ab~~+rt ;;ern. The .mnual
<br />orecitation in this ax•ea is about 8 inches ~Id i:; not enough to Guarentee
<br />a stand.
<br />l±arrison Pit -Soils are Dunul cobbly sandy loam .and 'torte gravelly
<br />sandy loan. Descriptions are attached. This pit i s rrxrrounded by
<br />cultivated land. Vegetation consists of sunf]owers, kochia, pigweed,
<br />milkweed, sweetclover and alsike clover. Reclamation: S,vne us Del IJorte,
<br />mile Plsza Pit -Soils are Garita cobbly loa;r, nrnl 1'ypic Torrifluvents.
<br />Descriptions are attached, This pit is locat,e~l near the Rio Grande in
<br />a riverbottom situation, Vegetation consists of lndian ricegrass,
<br />prickly pear csctus, kochia, rabbitbrush, blue ~rnn~a, 6anrl dropseed,
<br />sage, squirrel tail, and winter fat. Rec,].amstion: a ope sides to 3:1
<br />or flatter. These soils have a fluctuating watertable aftd are moderately
<br />alkaline, Revetetation should include Dlue Gr•vna %vld Intermediate
<br />wheatgrass on the drier sites and lJestern wheatgrass atul :;month brume
<br />u^ the wetter sites.

<br />This pit is locai.ed in a rirerbottora situation. Vegetation present
<br />includes: bluegrass, cottonwoods, kochia, willo•.as, s^d~;es, rushes,
