2. DesCllDtion of Discharoe Point 002 and Required Practices:
Discharge Point 002 corresponds to the zone of affected groundwater that developed as a result of the historic
flow o/groundwater from the backfilled West Pit into the adjacent Rso Seco alluvial aquifer within the region of
the window as delineated in figure 2. In tts immediate response to the observation of seeps contributing to the
surface water Bow of the Rso Seco in 1998, BMRI implemented a groundwater pump and treat program
designed to eliminate continued flow of groundwater to the Rso Seco. The pump and treat system has
effectively eliminated that flow and there is no discernible discharge to the Rso Seco /rom this Discharge
Point. The permit conditions (or 002 were added and revised to reflect the peAormance standard associated
with a potential discharge /rom 002.
