iiiiiiiiii~iiiuiii
~ _ ~a -g`'
-86-

MS. BALDRIGE: That's right. The mill flow sheets, the basic mill
designs, the commitment to curbing and containment of all solutions within the
mill are contained in the existing permit application. The actual design
specifications are not.
MR. DANIEL SON: But that will come back through the Division for review
when it's...
MS. BALDRIGE: That's correct. Although Battle Mountain has agreed to a
.2 parts per million level of free cyanide and waste materials, they have
failed to specify the point at which such levels will be measured. That is in
the initial Adequacy Response Letter dated February 15, 1989, and it is
Response #18. Yeah, this Response says that the .2 parts per million will be
obtained at the -- will be measured at the point of disposal. If that does
not meet that the material will not be disposed, it will be taken back to the
mill for re-rinsing.
MR. BARRY: The second point in this here was that the point of disposal
was not defined. Can you define the point of disposal?
MS. BALDRIGE: The south waste rock disposal area -- south waste rock
tailings disposal area is the point where all the tailings will loe disposed.
That's discussed in the mine plan section of the permit application.
Battle Mountain has failed to provide information concernin~q the lining
of ditches carrying cyanide solutions. There will be no ditches carrying
cyanide solutions, per se, all cyanide solutions will be carried in hdpe pipes
as indicated in the permit application. The adequacy review requested that
those pipes be laid in lined ditches and in Response number -- hang on, it'll
take me a minute to find that -- in Response #31-A, Battle Mountain Gold has
committed to lying all the pipes and pipe line corridors lined with hdpe.
MR. DANIEL SON: How thick will that be?
•
