6.0 OLD FIELD AND CULTIVATED FIELD
6.1 INTRODUCTION
Pursuant to a verbal agreement with CMLR staff, quantitative vege-
tation sampling in 1982 was confined to a reseeded grassland community
told field) and a cultivated field proposed for disturbance.
This section presents and discusses the quantitative data for the
old field vegetation mapping unit and provides information on crop
production in the cultivated field.
6.2 METHODS
6.2.1 Experimental Design
Cover, production, and woody plant density data were recorded
for the old field vegetation type. A grid scaled to 50 ft by 50 ft was
established on the vegetation map in the affected area. Pairs of random
numbers were used as Cartesian coordinates to locate sample points.
Sample points were located in the field by use of a USGS map and pacing
where necessary.
